It was reported earlier that Google was testing a feature which could let you make and receive calls from Gmail. But now it’s a reality, Google has now formally declared that this certainly is a new element of Gmail.
“Gmail voice and video chat makes it easy to stay in touch with friends and family using your computer’s microphone and speakers,” says Google software engineer Robin Schriebman. “But until now, this required both people to be at their computers, signed into Gmail at the same time. Given that most of us don’t spend all day in front of our computers, we thought, ‘wouldn’t it be nice if you could call people directly on their phones?’”
“We’ve been testing this feature internally and have found it to be useful in a lot of situations, ranging from making a quick call to a restaurant, to placing a call when you’re in an area with bad reception,” says Schriebman.
When people will make a call using their Google voice numbers, the same number will be displayed as caller ID to the person they called up. Calls to United States and Canada will be free of cost for this year at least. For other calls you would be charged as per Google voice rates.
Just look out for “call phones” option in your chat section of your Gmail and you will be all set to make and receive phone calls. Now that’s really great!!

Google; the king of search engines has done it once again by introducing a brand new mobile version of Google Finance for Android and as well as iPhone. It provides with almost same incredible functionality and features as present in the desktop edition.
“Here on the Google Finance team, we’re always looking for new ways to help you access the finance data, charts, and reports that you need in the blink of an eye,” says product manager Brian Shih. “But all the data in the world won’t help if you can’t access it when you need it most. Since many of us are on the run throughout the day and don’t always have our computers in front of us, it came as no surprise that one of users’ most frequently requested features was a fast, easy-to-use mobile website for Google Finance.”

Google, king of search engines is reportedly taking over Like.com by paying more than hundred million dollars. According to Michael Arrington, the companies are in the final stages of the deal, based on word from “multiple sources”.
If you see Like.com for the first time you might find it like an ordinary e-commerce website, but it seems that the technology backing this website has grabbed Google’s attention.
“Combining the best in Computer Vision and Machine Learning technology with the expertise of designers who have spent decades in the fashion industry, we are solving hard problems unique to buying shoes, apparel, jewelry, accessories and home decor online,” Like.com says on its about page. “While hard goods such as books, electronics and DVDs are bought based on reviews, product specs or merchant ratings, soft goods (what we, at Like.com, focus on) are purchased based on everything from the consumer’s personal style and whether the item matches an outfit to current trends and opinions of the fashion elite.”
Yet another great step by Google!! Now I know why it is regarded as king of search engines.

Google has firmly decided to brawl against Oracle lawsuit. Google regards the claim as completely unjustified. The whole issue was regarding the usage of Java by Google in Android phone platform.
Oracle’s lawsuit is a disappointing and “baseless” attack not only against Google but also against the open-source Java community, Google spokesman Aaron Zamost said via e-mail on Friday.
“The open-source Java community goes beyond any one corporation and works every day to make the web a better place. We will strongly defend open-source standards and will continue to work with the industry to develop the Android platform,” he said.
Google infringed Oracle’s Java-related intellectual property “knowingly, directly and repeatedly,” Oracle said on Thursday in a statement about the lawsuit, which it filed in U.S. District Court in San Francisco.
Oracle got technology of Sun’s Java along with its acquirement of Sun Microsystems. Oracle is specially focusing on issue related to Dalvik Java technology which Google created for Android.

I have many Gmail addresses which I use for distinct purposes. Historically Gmail accounts have only let individuals access one Gmail account at a time in one browser; so utilizing two accounts has been a little inconvenient. I either had to log out and then log back again or utilize a second browser for second account. And I am not the only one; numerous people want a better way for utilizing multiple accounts in the same browser at once.
Google has finally offered this feature. All you need to do is visit Google.com/accounts and hit the link which is next to multiple sign-in. Once you have signed into your first account then you can log in into your other accounts from new accounts menu which you will find in upper right hand corner of your Gmail. However not all Google services back this feature yet.
