Google Gets Over The Old Version Of Adsense for Search

Google has decided to get over the old version of Adsense for search and is recommending users to move on to the incredible new version which is backed by Google custom search. If you are seeing ‘powered by Google’ icon on your search result page then it’s the old version.

In a post on Google’s Inside Adsense blog, Katrina Kurnit writes:

AdSense for search with CSE gives you more control over your search results without changing how you earn money showing AdSense for search ads. For example, with the new version, you’ll have access to advanced features like refinements and promotions. Our team has developed a number of updates and improvements during the past few months, and you can access more advanced features at www.google.com/cse.”

If you want to do the upgradation process then simply go to Adsense setup and look out for Adsense for search. After that decide upon the website which you want the users to search. Then follow up with customization and lastly do the updating of code.

Yet another great step by Google!!

Google Gets in Page Load Time Metrics for Chrome

For Google page speed is one of the signals for search engine ranking. If you keep this in consideration, you will be glad to know that Google chrome 6 developers can use web timing metrics to measure page loading time across different browsers.

“Measuring web page load time is a notoriously tricky but important endeavor. One of the most common challenges is simply getting a true start time. Historically, the earliest a web page could reliably begin measurement is when the browser begins to parse an HTML document (by marking a start time in a <script> block at the top of the document).” says Google software engineer Tony Gentilcore.

The engineer feels a lot of time is spent to fetch the page from the web server. So in order to get over this problem some web developers are storing the navigation start time in a cookie.

You can find this metrics under window webkit performance in your chrome 6. This without doubt is a great innovation by Google.

Google has decided to take stern steps for extending defense against unofficial usage of applications. They have launched a licensing service for its applications in the Android market. The unique service is free of charge and provides a highly safe mechanism to deal access to paid applications.

At runtime, with the inclusion of a set of libraries provided by us, your application can query the Android Market licensing server to determine the license status of your users. It returns information on whether your users are authorized to use the app based on stored sales records,” Eric Chu said.

The main purpose behind is to change the existing android market copy mechanism with the superb licensing service.

A great step by Google which will definitely make things easy for its users.

Google, the master of all search engines has done it again by launching a new preview feature for the font directory. This mind blowing feature is a boon for all users. It lets them preview fonts and even generates codes. The directory contains unique fonts which are a part of Google font API.

“Now, whenever you visit the font family page of any of the fonts, you will see a link saying ‘Preview this font’ that will load your font selection into the font previewer,” says Marc Tobias Kunisch with the Google Font API Team. “Here you can edit the text, change its size and line height, and add decorations and spacing among other things. You can even apply text shadow to your text.”

You can even see the font sample very easily by using the front previewer controls. Just click on ‘toggle controls’ that are present in the upper right corer. With this you will get an example of how the font would appear in the design.

Hats off to Google for this launching this amazing preview feature. The beta version of font API allows you to put in web fonts to just any webpage.
