Press Release Writing Tips

Article Communicating with your customers is the best way to expand your business.

Writing a press release is in no way different from any other form of documentations, except for the fact that the tone is formal than usual. Such pieces are written in order to communicate with the wide customer base of a particular business to give them relevant information about something that is newsworthy, for instance the launch of a product, some new schemes and discounts etc.

Press releases can be beneficial for any business as these are journalistic documents that can be submitted to the media that includes websites, radio, television and newspapers too. However, these are extremely popular on the websites, as internet marketing is now the ultimate source of advertisement. But there is just one point to be considered – Press releases should be relevant and to the point; no personal information is required in these writings. It would only make your work unworthy.

Writing a press release is not a rocket science, but we do want some handy tips and summaries that can help us on our way. Noted herein are a few tips for writing a perfect press release:

  • You must have some news to share with your customers. Press releases are not just written to target traffic; it is written with some purpose that needs to be conveyed formally. You should be making an announcement to the world about something new and relevant and of course newsworthy.

  • The title of a press release should convey the subject matter. Usually long titles and a summary of 10-15 words should be compelling enough to generate interest in people to read the complete information.

  • The paragraphs should contain only relevant information, and the first paragraph is the most crucial part. It should reveal everything about the content, proceeding further to explain the news and its importance in the later paragraphs.

  • Give them facts and figures to enable them to understand the points that you are trying to convey. Using good words and engrossing style will keep your readers glued to the piece.

  • Flowery words, too many adjectives, false statements and exaggeration of points are not required. Short and simple, yet informative, and no exclamations please – that’s the mantra.

  • Write in active voice- this is a rule you cannot forget.

  • Give all the necessary information, including contact details, phone numbers and URL to the website.

Well written press release can encourage users to take a look at your website and may be use your services too. This cannot be taken for granted.
